1.0 SHORT HISTORYMATI - Ilonga is among the Agricultural Training Institutes under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives (MAFC) officially inaugurated on 17th September, 1972 by the late Father of the Nation Hon. Julius Kambarage Nyerere. The institute was established to provide a Certificate Course in Agriculture, Food Science and Human Nutrition.
Changes in client demands and policy over the years have resulted to MATI - Ilonga offering a two years training leading to a Certificate in Agriculture, and two Diploma levels and training in the fields of Agriculture, Human Nutrition and Food Production. Short courses are offered to farmers, extension workers and other clients as well. the institute has been accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) since October 2009.
